The Bedford Suyvesant Restoration Corporation was in the midst of an extensive renovation of this senior housing complex. JKLA was engaged to design a new landscape in the space between the two buildings connected by a bridge way. The first phase was a complete renovation of the hardscape and site furnishings - JKLA’s design reconfigured the grading and drainage of the site to direct stormwater from the on site parking lots to planted areas to absorb the runoff. For the second phase, JKLA partnered with BSRC and Highview Creations to successfully apply for a green infrastructure grant from the NYCDEP. This grant funded further improvements to the planted areas to better capture and infiltrate the volume and flow of stormwater from the hardscape areas.
