This Ohio-based craft brewery wanted to create a presence in downtown Columbus. Their newly-acquired retail space included a large parking lot and the opportunity to expand out into it. JKLA worked with local architect Matt Toddy at Design Collective to create a highly visible, very accessible hybrid indoor/outdoor beer garden space. Early design charrettes for the site design allowed the client, architect, and landscape architect to envision what became the key visual and functional elements of the new space: a wheelchair-accessible ramp to the upper deck as part of the front facade, a repurposed fermentation tank for rainwater harvesting, and rain garden of native plants to absorb runoff from the surrounding parking lot.
